2008-2009
SEASON
The
end of the season is almost upon us, officially finishing on the 26th
April 2009. This however does not mean the finish of members of the
public being involved in aquatic activities.
All
surf life saving clubs and services should be prepared for an emergency
call out. Some guidelines to help prepare for the off season include:
Ensuring emergency contact details are up to date. Ensure rescue
equipment is ready to go on a 24/7 basis. Ensure members are aware of
the out of hour's response protocols.
Hope
you all have a great weekend.

LIFESAVING:
Club/Patrol
Captains:
Quotes
of the Day: Leadership, "One of the
tests of leadership is to recognise a problem before it becomes an
emergency" (Arnold Glasgow)
Leadership,
"A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a moulder of
consensus" (Martin Luther King Jr)
Leadership,
"Leadership is action not position" (Donald H McGannon)
Leadership
Is the ability to influence the activities of others through the
process of communication to reach a common goal.
A
"leader" without followers is not a leader. Leaders need to
spend time building their team by matching individuals to one another
and the task.
TEAM -
Together Everyone Achieves More To build the team,
the leader must Inform, Organise, set standards and examples, develop
and maintain discipline, morale and team spirit.
CLUB
CAPTAINS: Please don't forget you only have 1 week
after the end of the month to enter patrol hours on Surfguard. It would
be appreciated if you could send in your YELLOW Patrol

reminded that if they participate in any event outside of Surf Lifesaving,
Water safety, people power etc you must
lodge a Special
Event Form to cover your members with Insurance. These
can be downloaded from our website MEMBERS - Downloadable
Forms These forms are being updated on the 1st May
2009 we will put the new forms on the website as soon as we receive
