2008-2009 SEASON

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Good luck to all those competitors competing at the Kraka Carnival and the Lake Macquarie Games. A reminder that the surfing events will take place with a 6.00am report for a 6.30am start.

Reminder: 

All Presidents and Executive a meeting with Telstra 11th November 2008 commencing at 6.00pm followed by the Branch Council Meeting at 7.00pm to be held at the Branch Office.

There will also be a Board of Surf Sports meeting upstairs at 6.00pm also at the Branch Office.

LIFESAVING:

Attention all Club Captains: Please don't forget you only have 1 week after the end of the month to enter patrol hours on Surfguard. It would be appreciated if you could start sending in your YELLOW Patrol sheets to the Branch Office.

REMINDER:

Clubs are reminded that if they participate in any event outside of Surf Lifesaving, Water safety, people power etc you must lodge a Special Event Form to cover your members with Insurance.

JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT:

Board of Member Services Junior meeting that was to be held on the 10th November 2008 has now been cancelled.

2009 Junior Lifesaver of the Year:  All under 14 members who believe they could be the next Junior Lifesaver of the Year should apply through their Clubs. The male and female Branch winners will then progress to the State Development Camp and interview process to determine the State winners. SENIOR FIRST AID:

Linda Miles, SLS NSW Training & Education Officer: Saturday 15th November 2008 is set aside for our next Senior First Aid Course commencing at 9am.

Assessors Course - The Assessors Course on the 8th & 9th November 2008 has been cancelled.

Defibrillator Course - Next course will be held at the Branch Office, on the 12th November 2008 commencing at 6.00 pm

Spinal Management Course - The next course is to be held on 18th November 2008 commencing 4.30pm at Newcastle Baths. Registrations are needed for this course to be conducted Please contact the Branch Office ASAP

SURF SPORTS:

Hunter Branch of Surf Lifesaving would like to welcome Peta Purcell as the new Director of Surf Sports.

Level 1 Coaching Course:  Registrations are being taken for the Coaching Course; we need a minimum of 12 for the course to go ahead.

Nominations are now being taken for the 2008 Newcastle Sports Awards which will be held on the 6th March 2009. The Award period is from 1.12.07 - 31.11.08 Nominations close 1st December 2008 For applications please contact the Branch Office.

Once again good luck to all competitors competing in the Peters Boat Series.

To all Competition Secretaries: Could all Clubs ensure their Carnival Entries are sent in to the Hunter Branch Office by the Wednesday before a Carnival is held. Thank you.
